With the increasing number of students in the classroom, after-school guidance seems to have become an essential to ensure that students grasp the subject completely and is able to perform well at the exams. Apart from this, the growing competition amongst students has made tuitions, home tutors in India a profitable business venture.
In fact, this is one option that can be looked at as full time career, or after office hours career. There are people who return home from office by six or seven in the evening and then dedicate at least hours tutoring students. This is not just for the additional income but the passion of teaching.
There are others who teach at schools and colleges and supplement their income with home tuition services. As they can earn almost as much as their salary, if not more taking up batches in evenings and on weekends.
In larger cities an Indian tutor charges anywhere between Rs. 500 to Rs. 1,000 per subject per month. However, there are the reputed at-home classes that do charge up to Rs. 2,000 per subject. Of course, the fee one commands depends on the results that the students procure. The success rate of a tutor is dependent on word-of-mouth publicity.
